It’s mark has been left across the country. It is the largest domestically produced source of energy in America and it was one of the biggest factors in the industrial revolution. Coal fueled the glowing red steel producing blast furnaces and the steam powered locomotives that fed them. Steel played a critical role in the economic development of the United States. The electricity produced from coal power plants is efficient but natural gas is cleaner. With steel production at an all time low and natural gas fueling cleaner power plants, coal’s future is uncertain.
I documented coal from the ground to its final destination. – Coal Across America
